Energy Calculators

See how much you can save on energy costs with our Energy Calculators. They'll help you estimate how much energy one appliance, one room or your entire house uses, and the potential energy and cost savings when you make a few small changes. Read below to find out more about the different calculators available for you to use.

Home energy and carbon footprint analyzer

The home energy and carbon footprint analyzer will provide you with an estimated energy cost and carbon footprint for your home. All calculations are rough estimates only. Your actual energy use may differ from these estimates because of factors related to your specific home design, construction details, lifestyle variances, changes in local climate from year to year, etc. View the calculator by clicking here.

Cooling system calculator

This calculator is intended to provide a comparison of the cost to operate various air conditioning systems. Since there is considerable variation in home energy use data (quality of construction, insulation values, number of windows, building tightness, set operating temperatures, etc), the tool should only be used to provide a rough estimate of energy use for the different cooling options. Heating system calculator

This calculator is intended to provide a comparison of the cost to operate various heating systems. Since there is considerable variation in home energy use data (quality of construction, insulation values, number of windows, building tightness, set operating temperatures, etc), this tool should only be used to provide a rough estimate of energy use for the different heating options. View the calculator by clicking here.

Household appliance calculator

This calculator is intended to provide an estimate of how much energy you use for the electic and natural gas appliances in your home. Electric energy used in homes is measured and billed in kilowatt hours (kWhs) and natural gas energy is measured and billed in units of 100 cubic feet of gas (CCFs) or in therms. The numbers provided below are simplified estimates and based on many averages. They are not to be used as a representation of what your specific costs might be.
