About the Solar Panels
- Two 1,000 watt solar panels
- Large enough to power twenty 100 watt light bulbs or four 500 watt portable electric heaters
- They face due south at an angle of 44.5 degrees
- WH solar panels are fixed to one position. They are not mounted on swivels that follow the path of the sun, as some solar panels are.
- The materials for WH’s solar panels cost about $15,000.

Enter Wright-Hennepin's monthly wind and solar power contest. Two lucky members will receive a credit on their bill for the amount of electricity produced by the wind generator or solar panels within the contest month. Please note, entrants must have an active electric account. Entries are not carried over from month-to-month and the same member may not win more than once in a one-year period. Wright-Hennepin employees are not eligible for the contest.This month's solar generation contest winner:
Congratulations to Barbara Twitchell, Maple Grove, who was Wright-Hennepin's October 2009 solar panels generator contest winner. Barbara receives a credit for 124 kilowatt-hours, which was the total amount of electricity produced by Wright-Hennepin's solar panels throughout the month.
