Wright-Hennepin receives national award for newsletter

Rockford, Minn. (June 13, 2012) — Wright-Hennepin Cooperative Electric Association’s (WH) member newsletter recently received a national award from the electric cooperative’s U.S. trade association for “Best Newsletter.” 

The National Rural Electric Cooperative Association’s (NRECA) Spotlight on Excellence program gave WH’s Hotline Update an “Award of Merit” in the recent competition. Criteria for the award included strong content, an attention-getting front page and consistent, high quality throughout all issues.

The newsletters were judged by faculty members from the University of Missouri School of Journalism– Columbia, University of South Carolina and the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill.

 “It is an honor to have the Hotline Update recognized by the NRECA,” said Vice President of Customer Service, Sales and Marketing Sonja Bogart. “We work hard to provide useful, timely information for our members that helps them lower energy usage and energy bills, and we appreciate this recognition.”

NRECA represents the nation’s more than 900 private, not-for-profit, consumer-owned electric cooperatives, which provide service to 42 million people in 47 states.

WH is a member-owned non-profit electric utility that provides electric power to Wright County and the western part of Hennepin County. The cooperative has been a corporate citizen in this area since 1937 and currently serves more than 46,000 electric accounts. The utility started its security division in 1989 that provides local home security solutions as well as monitors alarm systems for more than 50,000 customers in 32 states and three Canadian provinces.
