Wright-Hennepin’s Heat Pump Programs
Uncontrolled Ground Source Heat Pump Program
- Applies to Residential or Commercial
- Uncontrolled Rate = $.060/ kWh.
- Must meet coefficient of performance (COP) of 3 or better at design conditions.
- System must be capable of providing the entire space heating and cooling requirement of the home.
- Control is not necessary and back up heating system is not required.
- Plenum or strip heat must be separately metered and controlled on a Dual Fuel rate strategy.
- Open loop geothermal systems well pumps may be placed on the uncontrolled rate.
- Closed loop geothermal systems pumps may be placed on the uncontrolled rate.
- If water heater is electric, customer must participate in an off peak water heating program.
- Wright-Hennepin offers a rebate on geothermal new or replacement units.
- $150 per ton
- Limited to one unit per service address
- GSHP must be placed on this program to qualify for rebate
- GSHP must be installed by a qualified contractor
- Completed rebate forms along with copy of customers invoice must be mailed to Wright-Hennepin to receive rebate
- Rebate dollars are limited and will be distributed on a first come/first service basis.
- Receive free meter package ($75.00 value).
Controlled Ground Source Heat Pump Program
- Off Peak Rate = $.049/kWh.
- Load management control up to 400 hours maximum in a heating season
- Winter Load Management control
- Up to 400 hours maximum in a heating season
- Control can be up to a maximum of 12 hrs. with a minimum of a one hour restore time between control periods.
- Summer control maximum load control up to 6 hours per day and up to 200 hours per cooling season
- Summer control is 15 minutes ON, 15 minutes OFF.
- Control is based on peak demand and or an outdoor temperature of 85 degrees or higher in Elk River, MN
- The furnace fan will continue to operate during an on peak period.
- Wright-Hennepin requires adequate automatic back up heating to qualify for off-peak rate.
- Wright-Hennepin offers a rebate on geothermal new or replacement units.
- $150 per ton
- Limited to one unit per service address
- GSHP must be placed on an off-peak program to qualify for rebate
- GSHP must be installed by a qualified contractor
- Completed rebate forms along with a copy of customers invoice must be mailed to Wright-Hennepin to receive rebate
- Rebate dollars are limited and will be distributed on a first come/first service basis.
- Receive free off-peak meter package if applicable $175 value (1 meter socket, radio receiver)
Air Source Heat Pump Program
- Off-Peak rate = $.049/kWh
- Winter Load Management control
- Up to 400 hours maximum in a heating season
- Control can be up to a maximum of 12 hrs. with a minimum of a one hour restore time between control periods.
- Summer control; maximum load control up to 6 hours per day and up to 200 hours per cooling season
- Summer control is 15 minutes ON, 15 minutes OFF.
- Control is based on peak demand and or an outdoor temperature of 85 degrees or higher in Elk River, MN

- Air Source Heat Pump must be placed on the off-peak program to qualify for rebate.
- Air Source Heat Pump unit must be installed by a qualified contractor.
- Completed rebate forms provided by the contractors along with copy of customers invoice must be mailed to Wright-Hennepin to receive rebate.
- Rebate dollars are limited and will be distributed on a first come/first serve basis.
- Receive free off-peak meter package $400 value (meter socket, radio receiver and CT, if needed).
