Knowing who to call and getting a second opinion for electric appliance and equipment repairs
When a major electrical appliance goes on the fritz in your home, finding someone to repair and/or replace your equipment can be a tedious process.
If your appliance is on an energy-saving program from Wright-Hennepin, call us first before contacting a contractor, as our energy use consultants (EUC) may be able to diagnose a problem with the equipment that a contractor may never have considered. Likewise, getting a second opinion from your electric cooperative before replacing or repairing equipment through a contractor may save you time and money.
When it comes to issues with equipment used for an energy-saving program, you may be familiar with the control switch located on the outside of your house that is used to control this electrical equipment. Just like anything else, they can malfunction and cause your heat or air conditioner to fail. A Wright-Hennepin EUC may be able to determine what the problem is before calling a contractor.
Most of our control switches have red lights on them that let you know when something is being controlled. If it turns out that the switch is the problem, one of our technicians will replace it free of charge. If the switch is not the problem, we may bypass it so that your contractor can troubleshoot the system more easily.
If you do decide to contact a contractor to service your electric appliances, remember that it never hurts to get a second opinion from your electric cooperative. Having someone out to repair your equipment only to find out it isn’t fixed after they have left can be frustrating. Recently, I was called out to a job where both an electrician and an HVAC technician had been called. Neither of them had fully diagnosed the equipment, but they made sure to leave the bill.
If you are in need of a new electric appliance or equipment repairs, don’t hesitate to call and speak to one of our EUCs to determine a good fit for your situation and learn more about rebates and programs we offer for different appliances and technologies. Reach us at (763) 477-3000, or email firstname.lastname@example.org. And if you join Wright-Hennepin’s Appliance Repair program, you can be sure that the contractor we send out will get it right the first time.
