The benefits of air source heat pumps

Learn how air source heat pumps are beneficial.

Air source heat pumps (also known as ASHPs) are energy-efficient alternatives to furnaces and air conditioners. They provide efficient heating and cooling for your home all from one source.

How do air source heat pumps work

In the summer, they cool your home and in the winter they supply heat. They do this by using electricity to transfer energy between indoor and outdoor air:

The benefits of ASHPs include:

  • Energy efficient: ASHPs deliver one to three times more energy than the electricity they consume.
  • Versatile (all year long) : ASHPs can heat your home in the winter and cool your home in the summer.
  • Energy effective: ASHP can help lower your fuel bills, especially if you are replacing older, inefficient heating and cooling systems.
  • Easy: ASHP are easy to install and require little maintenance.

Along with these benefits, Wright-Hennepin also offers rebates on ASHPs. Based on the SEER rating, ASHP rebates vary based on efficiency. Please check our rebate page for more information on rebates and criteria. If you have any questions you can also speak with an Energy Use Consultant (EUC) by calling (763) 477-3000.
