Wright-Hennepin Collections Policy
In an attempt to address the rising trend of 30 days or older past due accounts, Wright-Hennepin (WH) has updated its collection policy for members in disconnect situations.
Now, members who have received two electric disconnect notices within 12 months will need to pay a deposit equal to two times their average monthly bill. This is in addition to any other fees, trip charges or past due amounts associated with their electric account.
In the event of an electric disconnect, WH must receive all late payments and other charges due before 4 p.m. for power to be reconnected the same day, Monday through Friday. Payments can be made by debit, credit and prepaid cards over the phone, or all of these methods including cash at its Rockford office. No checks will be accepted. Members who make payments that the cooperative receives after 4 p.m., will be scheduled for reconnection the next business day.
“As always, WH works hard with members to prevent disconnection of electric service,” said Angie Pribyl, WH chief financial officer. “We want to give members with past due accounts every opportunity to work out an acceptable payment schedule with us. However, customers must contact us ahead of time to make payment arrangements. Once the disconnect process is initiated it is too late to make arrangements.”
