April is Lineworker Appreciation Month. Wright-Hennepin’s (WH) lineworkers work tirelessly behind the scenes to keep your lights on and help bring power to the 57,500 accounts in our territory.
Overhead or underground, WH’s 29 lineworkers spend their days installing new line to prepare for growing communities, changing poles to ensure continued reliability and working hard to ensure our members have safe, reliable and affordable power.
In 2021 alone, WH lineworkers installed 253 miles of line and added more than $20 million to WH’s utility plant to keep our system modern and reliable. They also upgraded a substation in 2020, which will help WH keep up with growth in the area.
The next time you turn a light on or feel the cool air of your air conditioning, or whenever you’re relaxing and watching TV after a long day, know that your cooperative – and our lineworkers – are there working hard to bring power to your lives, to make life a little bit easier and better. This has been WH’s commitment to our members for 85 years and will be for many more to come.
Please join us today and every day in thanking our amazing lineworkers for everything they do!
