Wright-Hennepin (WH) will begin pole inspections in September 2021 and expects to complete the annual inspections in November. Every year, WH performs pole maintenance to ensure continued reliable and safe service. This maintenance strengthens WH’s electrical grid to ensure it is more resilient during storms and emergency situations, and it helps reduce unscheduled pole replacement. During pole inspections, WH identifies poles that need maintenance or replacement due to age, storm damage or other causes.

Many variables affect the strength and serviceability of a pole including wood species, preservation methods, soil and climate conditions, insects, mechanical damage and inspection methodology.

Pole inspections will take place in the Howard Lake and Annandale areas. WH is utilizing Star Energy, a third-party contractor, to exercise the pole maintenance inspection program for 2021. They can be identified by vehicle markers and name badges. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact member services at (763) 477-3000, or at info@whe.org.
