Commercial Power Quality & Generators: Optimize Your Operations

Managing your business's energy usage is crucial for controlling costs and ensuring operational reliability. Wright-Hennepin's Commercial Power Quality and Generators program is designed to help you achieve both. By partnering with WH to manage your facility's demand during peak times, you can save money on your electric bill and gain the resilience of backup power when you need it most.

How It Works

WH's commercial load management program is a partnership. During periods of high energy demand on the electric grid, WH will coordinate with your business to either reduce your electricity usage or switch to an on-site power source. This strategic load management helps both you and the cooperative, as it keeps wholesale power costs down for all members.

For members who use a backup generator, WH can install an automatic control system to remotely start and stop the generator as needed, making the process seamless and hands-free.

Participation Options

Not every business needs a generator to participate. We offer two flexible options based on your facility's needs and capabilities.

  • Backup Generator Participation: Use your existing diesel or natural gas generator to power your facility during a peak demand event. This ensures your operations remain uninterrupted while you reduce your load on the grid and save money on demand charges.
  • Voluntary Load Curtailment: This option is for businesses that can voluntarily reduce non-essential power consumption during high-demand hours. By simply cutting back on certain loads, you can still participate and receive benefits without a generator.
