Participation in our Energy-Saving Programs can be a smart way to help manage your bill. WH offers a variety of program options, including peak-shave programs, that may involve managing certain devices during periods of high energy demand. These programs help us reduce power costs and support grid reliability for all members.

Now is a good time to make sure your backup heat is ready to go. On October 1, WH will transition to winter demand management.

To help members prepare for the heating season, WH will conduct Dual Fuel Program tests on:

  • Thursday, October 22 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, October 24 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

What is Demand Management?

Demand management is an essential part of our cooperative model. It allows us to manage participating devices, like air source heat pumps, electric heat, and water heaters on days when energy use is at its highest. 

Reduce Wholesale Power Costs: 
By lowering peak demand, we avoid purchasing expensive power from the energy market, which helps keep rates stable for everyone.

Support Grid Reliability: 
Managing demand during peak times helps prevent strain on the electric grid, ensuring a reliable power supply for all members.

Help Members Save: 
Members who participate in these programs often receive a credit or a special rate for allowing us to manage participating devices.
