Wright-Hennepin’s commercial rebates and Energy-Saving Programs help commercial, industrial, and agricultural members invest in energy-efficient electric technologies. These programs offer financial incentives and discounted rates designed to reduce energy use, lower operating costs, and support long-term efficiency improvements.

Commercial Rebates

Wright-Hennepin (WH) offers rebate incentives for a wide range of energy-efficient upgrades, including lighting, HVAC, and motor-control systems. Incentives may also be available for other electric-related projects where efficiency improvements reduce overall energy consumption.

Because rebate funding is limited, project pre-approval by a WH commercial account representative is strongly recommended. Projects that do not receive pre-approval are not guaranteed incentive funding.

Lighting upgrades are often one of the most cost-effective ways for businesses to reduce energy use and operating costs. Many projects achieve a simple payback period of one to four years.

Additional benefits of upgraded lighting systems may include:

Rebate incentives are available for the installation of high-efficiency rooftop units (RTUs) and split-system HVAC equipment. Applications for these technologies can be found in the 2026 RTU & Split-Systems Rebate Application.

Commercial Energy-Saving Programs

Reduce your electric bill by participating in Wright-Hennepin’s commercial Energy-Saving Programs. Participation is subject to WH approval.

Explore Commercial Program Options

The Dual Fuel Heating Program is available for certain commercial members who heat and cool office spaces (not applicable for large warehouses). This program allows an automatically controlled, non-electric secondary heating source to operate when the primary electric heating system is interrupted. The backup system must be capable of heating the entire conditioned space, with interruptions occurring for up to 12 hours per day.

Eligible participants receive a discounted electric rate for electric space heating measured by a dedicated energy-saving meter. Commercial and industrial applications are subject to Wright-Hennepin approval.

Commercial members who install a qualifying ground source heat pump (GSHP) system may be eligible for an energy-only electric rate with no demand charge. To qualify, the GSHP system must be metered separately from all other building electric loads.

Wright-Hennepin offers several water-heating options for qualifying commercial accounts, including metered, peak shave, and incentive-based programs. These options are designed to help manage energy use and reduce operating costs while maintaining reliable hot-water availability.

Program participation typically requires the installation of a water-heating system with sufficient storage capacity to meet demand during scheduled control periods, with electric recharge occurring during off-peak hours. Commercial and industrial applications are subject to Wright-Hennepin approval.

All generator and backup power installations must meet WH interconnection standards and safety requirements. Commercial and industrial applications are subject to Wright-Hennepin approval prior to installation.
