Quick Cash Air Source Heat Pump Program
Looking for a smarter way to heat and cool your home? The Quick Cash Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) Program helps members save energy and money while enjoying year-round comfort. An air source heat pump works like a traditional air conditioner in the summer, but it also provides efficient heating in the winter by transferring heat rather than generating it. That means lower energy use and greater comfort in every season.
When you enroll, Wright-Hennepin will cycle your ASHP during summer peak periods and manage it for up to 12 hours in the winter. These adjustments manage peak energy demand, conserving energy and reducing overall power costs for the membership.
Benefits & Rebates
- Receive $5 monthly bill credit (June–November)
- Up to $1,305 in combined rebates for qualifying systems
- Energy-efficient comfort for summer and winter
What is an Air Source Heat Pump?
An air source heat pump looks like a standard air conditioner, but it does much more. In warmer months, it cools your home by moving heat outside. In cooler months, it reverses the process to pull heat into your home using far less electricity than traditional heating. Recent technology makes these systems effective even in Minnesota winters, especially when paired with a backup heat source.
How it Works
Summer:
On high-demand days between 3 and 10 p.m., your air-source heat pump may cycle on and off in 15-minute intervals to help reduce energy use. This cycling is limited to 200 hours per cooling season, and your system fan will continue to circulate air.
Winter:
During peak demand in cold weather, your heat pump may be managed for up to 12 hours at a time. Your backup heating system will operate during these periods. Total winter cycling is limited to 400 hours per season.
Stay Informed:
You can choose to receive alerts from WH when demand management events are scheduled.
Requirements
- Minimum 200 kWh/month general service electric use
- ASHP must be compatible with WH's Energy-Saving Program (ESP) and utility curtailment equipment
- Backup heating source required
- Outdoor installation of ESP demand management receiver required
Note: Not all systems are compatible with this program. Work with your contractor to confirm compatibility before purchasing equipment.
