How Our Electric Water Heater Program Works
WH’s Peak Shave Water Heating program helps reduce strain on the electric grid during periods of high energy demand. In exchange for allowing Wright-Hennepin to manage your electric water heater during peak usage times, you'll receive:
- A one-time rebate of $200
- A $5 monthly bill credit
- Ongoing energy savings, without sacrificing comfort
If this isn’t the right program for you, WH offers two other water heating programs that may be a better fit!
Will I Still Have Hot Water?
Yes! Any interruption lasts no more than eight hours per day, and your water heater is designed to retain enough hot water to meet the needs of most households during these periods.
Benefits of Wright-Hennepin Energy-Saving Programs
Wright-Hennepin's Energy-Saving Programs (ESPs) are offered for home heating, home cooling, water heating, and EV charging. They make it easy to reduce electricity usage while earning valuable incentives. Depending on the program, members can receive:

Program Eligibility Requirements
To participate in the Peak Shave Water Heater Program, you must have a compatible electric water heater. A minimum 50-gallon tank is required, and smart tanks, Wi-Fi-enabled water heaters, and tankless water heaters are not eligible
Once your eligible water heater is installed and inspected, Wright-Hennepin will install the necessary ESP equipment to activate your program benefits!
