Welcome to the new WH website. We hope you find what you need easily!
Renewable Choice
Renewable Choice is a simple and affordable program that allows residential and commercial members to add renewable energy to your existing electricity use without installing any equipment. For just $1 a month, you can support renewable energy and offset your carbon footprint, all with the convenience of a simple enrollment process.
How It Works
Wright-Hennepin handles the entire process for you. For every member enrolled in the Renewable Choice program, WH purchases and "retires" Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) on your behalf.
Renewable Energy Credits are the recognized legal instrument used to track and verify that one megawatt-hour (MWh), or 1,000 kWh, of electricity was generated from a renewable source. By purchasing and retiring these credits, WH ensures that an equivalent amount of clean, renewable energy is added to the power grid, matching your electricity use.
Program Options
Residential Members:
Residential members may choose to match up to 12,000 kWh per year of their electricity use with renewable energy through the Renewable Choice program. This amount is enough to offset the average home’s annual electricity consumption.
Commercial and Industrial Members:
Commercial and industrial (C&I) members may choose to match up to 100% of their electricity use with renewable energy through the Renewable Choice program, allowing businesses to align their energy use with sustainability goals.
